Today, Zee and I couldn't go into the village because the chief wanted to make sure the village was aware that we would be there for a few days. Instead, we finalized our questionnaire and were to meet with our professor, Clever. We had agreed on a morning meeting, and walked over to the engineering campus after breakfast. He was in a meeting, so we waited and kept Mallory and KB company as they did viscosity tests for different bio-diesels.
Clever was still in his meeting when we needed to go to lunch, so we left him a message to call and plan a meeting in the afternoon. Zee and I went back to our rooms and did some interweb searching for other aspects of our project while we waited to hear back from Clever.
He didn't call until 5pm and set up a meeting at 5:30pm at our dining hall. He was then 45minutes late. The Botswana time frame is definitely different. He just had some small edits on our questionnaire, which we will take tomorrow to the village.

Later after dinner, a few researchers and Lebo got together to learn a new card game. Brian taught us how to play 45. It had a lot of odd rules, but was kind of similar to Euchre and Spades.
Brian (Tulane) and Amber (UPenn)
KB (UB)
Andrew (Rutgers) needed a lot of Coke to wash down his late dinner.
Maren (Yale) and Leslie (Rice) killing time by making peanut butter sandwiches and eating crackers.... in the dark.
We then went out with the ENGR students after waiting a long time for the buses to arrive. We tried a few clubs, but third one was a charm. It was nice to go on a Monday so it was less crowded. Everyone had a good time and got back safely.
I'll have more stories tomorrow when I hopefully don't do so much waiting.
Until then,
M.e.
