Presentations

Today, the researchers got to present our findings to our peers, our mentors, and the ENGR students.  The presentations weren't until  4pm and we had a lot to accomplish before then.

The most of the research team and Lebo went to the store to buy food for the celebratory barbecue or Brai, which was held after dinner.  We split up into teams of 2 and bought enough food for all the researchers, mentors and Case students.  It was surprisingly cheap after converting it to US Dollars in my head. There's no way we could have fed that many of us so inexpensively in the States.  We had burgers, hotdogs, steaks, chips, guacamole, Nanners, corn, fruit, cookies, and a bunch of things I'm forgetting.  Since you have to purchase bags at grocery stores here, we loaded as much as we could into our backpacks.  Good thing mine is giant, but we still had to purchase a few plastic bags.

After returning, some of us baked (not me).  Zee and I had to coordinate our presentation and meet with Clever so he could look at our slides.  Nothing like leaving things till the last minute.

The presentations went really well and the ENGR students had some really good questions.  You could tell everyone had their own presenation styles and they all made it work.  Great job guys!

The barbecue was delicious and a success.  Brian is spreading his Nanners business to Africa, so when you see it in stores, you can say "I know someone that knows that Nanners guy."  You can check out his soon to be break out business at http://nolananners.com/

Here are some videos from yesterday.  Enjoy!

As we got out of the buses, we were greeted with this.

This is the grandmother of the village, the first wife of the chief.

Some dancing by the older children.

That's it for now.
Until next time,
M.e.
